Keyfacts
Hi,
Australia is surrounded by the Indian Ocean and the South Pacific Ocean. It is the smallest continent in the world with only 7.6 mio km² (Europe has more than 10mio. km²) and has a coastline of 25760 km.
-The Great Barrier Reef (top map in blue), the world's largest coral reef lies a short distance off the north-east coast and has a length of more than 2.000 km.
-The highest mountain of Australia, the Mount Kosciuszko (top map red) is more than 2.228 metres high
Climate and Terrain
Let us take a look at the climate and the Terrain,
As you can see on the map, most of the continent contains deserts and grassland.
-In general the Terrain is very plain and dry which leads to a
very high temperature in the summer.
-A strange opposite is the tropical north as you can see on the second picture.
