Hi,

Australia is surrounded by the Indian Ocean and the South Pacific Ocean. It is the smallest continent in the world with only 7.6 mio km² (Europe has more than 10mio. km²) and has a coastline of 25760 km.







-The Great Barrier Reef (top map in blue), the world's largest coral reef lies a short distance off the north-east coast and has a length of more than 2.000 km.








-The highest mountain of Australia, the Mount Kosciuszko (top map red) is more than 2.228 metres high

Climate and Terrain


Let us take a look at the climate and the Terrain,
As you can see on the map, most of the continent contains deserts and grassland.




-In general the Terrain is very plain and dry which leads to a
very high temperature in the summer.










-A strange opposite is the tropical north as you can see on the second picture.

Land use and natural recourses

The Australian continent is very diffent used and has many different surfaces.
It mainly contains:

6% arable land,

54% permanent pasture
19% forest and woodland

and 21% other land..
